The Spoils of Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day – a holiday for all of us domestic super heroes out there. And a paid one to boot.

I’m happy to report that, despite the country’s economic woes, I was generously compensated.

Money may not be able to buy happiness, but a day that starts off with a dozen long-stemmed red roses and a box of my favorite chocolate does hold the promise of much cheer.  The greatest gifts, though, were the ones that didn’t cost a cent – getting to sleep in, enjoying unsolicited coffee refills, reading the paper front to back, taking an unhurried shower, retaining complete control of the TV remote and being the recipient of a multitude of hugs and kisses all day long.

I feel rich indeed.

Today, I’m back to work, spinning my plates, juggling my disparate careers, and realizing I have five measly weeks to prepare for my husband’s domestic super hero holiday.

I’d better start with some fresh batteries for the TV remote…
