NICK DeROSA here, asking for your vote for Book Boyfriend 2017!

You may remember me from False Start, Help Wanted, Key Change and Flight Risk. But mostly, False Start. That’s the story of how I went from being an endorsement-heavy Olympic athlete, to a wrongfully charged convict, to the marathon running coach for one Mattie Ross – my childhood nemesis…and lifelong crush.

Back when we were in high school, the Chicago Gazette dubbed me “The Comeback Kid” because I led my cross-country team in multiple state championships wins.

I don’t mean to brag, really.

Truth be told, I never felt like I deserved that title…especially when the only job I could snag was training Mattie, an out-of-shape advice columnist at the Gazette, to run the Chicago Marathon. (I know, right?? What are the chances?)

Trust me, this was no small task – especially considering the chip she had on her shoulder (about the size of the John Hancock building). Probably didn’t help that the guy who put it there was my identical twin, Eddie, who just happened to be the object of her lifelong crush. Talk about a lucky break…not.

But, I gotta tell ya, when I had the privilege of witnessing Mattie transform from a bitter, out-of-shape woman into a confident knock out…well, even that didn’t make me feel like The Comeback Kid – not until she finally realized that I loved her even when she didn’t love herself.

Maybe that’s why she nominated me for this Book Boyfriend campaign. Whatever the reason, I’m NICK DeROSA, and I’d appreciate your vote.
